John has an extensive background in all facets of machine building including beginning his career as a machine tool electrician and serving as a Controls Engineer in the automotive industry. In 2006, he joined the ABB Jokab Safety group. Since then, John has served as Engineering Manager until transitioning to his current role as Technical Manager for the ABB Ability™ Digital Business.

Max Gallaway is a seasoned leader in the electrical industry whose career began with early exposure to the business through his family. After gaining nearly a decade of experience with two leading electrical contractors, he joined his family’s company, Max Electric, Inc., where he has helped drive growth through a mix of industry expertise, innovation, and sales acumen. Max is actively involved with industry associations like AGC and NECA, contributing to boards, councils, and training committees that promote collaboration and advancement. A frequent speaker at national conferences, he shares insights on topics ranging from data center construction to subcontractor decision-making, offering a unique perspective on integrating technology, business strategy, and industry leadership.

Business Development Roundtable: Exploring Industry Growth Strategies (Open to All)

Join fellow business development professionals for a highly interactive and solutions-driven roundtable designed to foster peer-to-peer learning, strategic thinking, and actionable takeaways. This session has two primary goals:

1. Equip you with practical insights and tools you can bring back to strengthen your company’s BD efforts.
2. Identify key areas the business development community within our industry should be focusing on moving forward.

Each table will dive into 3–4 of the following critical industry topics:

Using SWOT analysis tools provided at each table, participants will collaboratively explore the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats related to their selected topics. After 40 minutes of discussion, we’ll reconvene to share insights, compare notes, and gather feedback across the group.
