This course focuses on the identification, installation, and commissioning of Building Automation System (BAS) components and the networking and cybersecurity fundamentals associated with the design of smart buildings and integration with smart cities. The full JATC courses on these subjects include programming BAS components with Demand Side Management (DSM) and Automated Demand Response (ADR) strategies and an introduction to computers and networking tools, device identification and verification, and end-point and network hardening.

Pat Gorham
Electrical Training Institute
Patrick Gorham has been in the electrical industry for 30 years and is currently the Transportation Area Superintendent for Rosendin Electric. He has worked in the Educational, Health Care, Entertainment, Sporting Venue, Aerospace, Transportation and Renewable Sectors. He is also a Part-Time Instructor for the Electrical Training Institute. At REI Patrick specializes in organizing and training Field Personnel to meet the project goals and their personal objectives. In his Instructional role with ETI, he specializes in writing curriculum for new classes and training instructors on emerging technology subject matter. In both roles, he believes strongly in helping others achieve their workplace and personal goals through mentorship and hands-on learning.

Tom Forbes
Electrical Training Institute
Tom Forbes entered the IBEW in 1989. Tom has been an instructor since 2005. During the day he currently works for CSI Electrical Contractors Inc. as a supervisor for their Title 24 technicians, field lighting controls group, and field layout technicians. In the evening, he is a Training Instructor for the ETI.
