This course will introduce the participant to the OSHA and Consensus standards that regulate cover-up of exposed systems, isolation techniques that can be used by distribution workers, and the use of EPZ in grounding for employee protection. This presentation introduces the electrical elements of MAD and covers in practical language to make compliance and protection of workers more effective. We will address common applications of cover-up, when isolation is an effective alternative to cover-up, and the limitations of both for more effective tailboards and hazard analysis. Participants will also learn the principles of current flow in a grounded system, how in-equal potentials develop, and the risk to workers protected by improperly installed personal protective grounding. Participants will gain insight into planning PPG installations and the limits to the protective arrangements chosen to effectively conduct tailboards and hazard analysis.
