Roy Cohen is the founding shareholder of Cohen Seglias, currently the 6th rated construction litigation firm in the country as ranked  by Construction Executive Magazine. Since founding the firm in 1988, Roy has seen his firm grow from 3 to more than 80 lawyers.

One of the driving factors in the firm’s growth has been Roy’s representation of NECA contractors nationwide. At present, the firm counts approximately 250 of its 1300 construction clients as being NECA members. Roy has handled cases for NECA contractors, including trials, arbitrations and mediations, in 35 states over the past 40 years. While the primary focus of Roy’s practice for his electrical contractors is pursuing claims for delay, disruption and Inefficiency damages sustained by his clients through no fault of their own, increasingly Roy has become involved in providing guidance to his clients on business succession. Roy has guided dozens of clients on the various business succession options available to them including sale to private equity firms, creation of ESOP’s, sale to local and out of state competitors, sale to existing employees and transfer of ownership to  family members through the use of estate planning. Roy also represents a publicly traded company which seek to acquire majority interests in electrical contracting firms focuses on the EV and 5 G markets.

Roy has assembled a panel of NECA contractors with whom  he has worked which have sold to private equity firms, created and managed their own ESOP’s and been engaged in trying to acquire other electrical contractors for a publicly traded electrical roll up.
