The Role of a Chapter Governor

As a NECA Chapter Governor you are the official representative between your Chartered Chapter and the National organization. This is a position of tremendous responsibility as you guide NECA on behalf of your Chapter’s members. With 118 Chartered Chapters representing more than 4,400 member companies each Governor must weigh differing needs of their members and the overall needs of the association. This session will discuss those responsibilities to help all governors move NECA forward together.

Year of Economic Tumult: Where Are We Now?

In a year marked by rapid shifts and uncertainty, understanding the current economic climate has never been more critical-or more challenging. Echoing J.K. Galbraith’s famous observation, “There are two kinds of forecasters: those who don’t know and those who don’t know they don’t know,” this course invites participants to make sense of the economic turbulence we’ve witnessed. Did the feared tariffs materialize or were last-minute deals struck? Are we headed for a recession, or simply navigating a new phase of the business cycle? This course aims to provide a clear-eyed assessment of where we stand-and what might lie ahead for electrical contractors.

Public Projects in the Time of Trump

Project Labor Agreements are facing new challenges, recent revisions to the Davis-Bacon Act have been rolled back, and rapid changes are happening across multiple agencies in an effort to cut government spending. At the same time, the current Secretary of Labor is considered one of the most pro-union in recent Republican administrations. This session will offer an up-to-date overview of publicly financed construction projects and provide insights into what contractors and compliance professionals can expect over the next three years.

Demystifying CIR

For over a century, the Council on Industrial Relations has helped resolve thousands of disputes in the NECA-IBEW labor relations space. Despite its transparency, publicly available procedures and sessions open to the public, misunderstandings about CIR still persist. This session will offer a clear, entry-level overview of how CIR works, dispel common myths, and provide an opportunity to ask questions about its practices and procedures. Please note: in accordance with CIR policy, individual cases will not be discussed.
