ACCESS SEATTLE: Fact or Fiction?

Beth Ellis, executive director for NECA’s convention and trade show, recently took the time to answer a few of the questions about NECA 2009 Seattle.

Q. I heard that only 16 exhibitors are coming to the NECA Show! What happened to the 27,000 exhibitors who are usually there?

A. It’s great that people think that we have a huge NECA Show, but our typical exhibitor list is between 200 and 250 exhibitors. And as folks can see on the 2009 NECA Show exhibitor list, we already have over 200 exhibitors signed up for Seattle.

The NECA Show is for the entire electrical industry, so if there’s a product or vendor your company uses who hasn’t ever exhibited, let us know!

Q. I heard that no one is coming to NECA 2009 Seattle and that the entire town is actually closing down the week of Convention!

A. With early registration ending Friday, July 24, we’re processing new registrations every day. I know we all tend to wait until the last minute, but this is one time you really don’t want to do that! The price of registration goes up after July 24, and you could lose the NECA block rate at our hotels. (We’re still accepting registrations after July 24 – you can register on-site in Seattle, too, but the price goes up then.)

Seattle is extremely excited to have NECA coming back after nine years. Check out the greeting from our official Seattle Ambassador Justin, best know for his fish-tossing skills at Pike’s Place Market!

Q. I live in Seattle, and I’m coming to the NECA Show and Convention, but I don’t need a hotel room. Why are you charging me a fee for not needing a hotel room?

A. We’re not! There is absolutely no fee if you live in the Seattle area and are coming to the NECA convention or trade show. I promise! The fee is ONLY charged to out-of-town residents who make hotel reservations outside of official NECA housing. We have to do this because NECA gets billed outrageous attrition charges from the hotels that have set aside rooms at a special rate based on our promise to fill them.

Seattle locals have a great advantage, and we’re hoping to see people who maybe can’t make it to the entire convention at some of the great pre-convention workshops. Find out that fits your needs right now!

I hope I’ve cleared up some of these Fact Or Fiction questions about NECA 2009 Seattle! Feel free to let me know if need any other straight answers about what you can expect at this year’s convention and trade show.
